Sune has been responsible for the blend development and manufacture of some of New Zealand’s leading coffee brands. His knowledge of bean quality, recipes and roasting techniques has been honed through site visits to some of the world’s most exotic coffee plantations. Sune’s expertise extends beyond quality coffee blends.
Sune has developed leading brand frappe and drinking chocolate recipes in New Zealand, China and the Middle East. During this process careful consideration had to be given to the extreme climatic differences of these diverse regions. He has also sourced and developed sucessful organic tea brands. |
What We BelieveThe Village Roaster is committed to sourcing and producing sustainable, organic coffee. We are very aware of the social and environmental impacts of global coffee production and have taken steps to ensure we are in-line, if not ahead of, the most ecological production methods. We use 1/3 less gas consumption in comparison to most other roasters. Our afterburner not only preheats by recycling the excess heat off the main burner, but also removes all odours and smoke from the air. We recycle all our coffee sacks and coffee husks for use in an organic nursery. All our cardboard is either recycled or reused and we promote and distribute 100% biodegradable take-away coffee cups and lids. For every 1000kg roasted, The Village Roaster generates less than one garbage bag of rubbish. We are able to source fair trade, direct from farm, organic beans and can ensure that a percentage of every cup produced is returned to the local economy to support schools or charities. |
